Two-Wheeler Catches Fire at Vasco
A fire broke out today on the parked vehicle outside two wheeler Garage in Vasco outside a two-wheeler repair garage behind St. Joseph’s School and Hotel Bismarck in Vasco, completely destroying a bike. The incident occurred when a Pulsar two-wheeler (GA 07-V-3108) from Tiswadi taluka was brought for repairs, caught after the delivery was made to the customer after test drive & handover the fire unexpectedly broke out when the customer complaint about oil leakage from the bike.
Despite the tireless efforts of the garage workers present at the scene, they were unable to control the blaze, which quickly engulfed the vehicle. The intense heat rendered the two-wheeler a total loss within minutes.
The fire brigade office in Dabolim was promptly informed of the incident. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control, preventing further damage. The garage is located opposite Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar’s office, an area that hosts several two-wheeler repair garages.
Garage attendants indicated that the fire escalated because the necessary materials to control such incidents were not available on-site. This highlights a critical need for better preparedness and fire safety measures in local repair shops.
The quick response of the state fire brigade was instrumental in averting a larger disaster. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of having adequate fire control measures in place, especially in areas with high-risk activities like vehicle repairs.
