TATA IPL 2025 Suspended for One Week Amidst National Security Concerns
Mumbai May 9: – In a significant development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the immediate suspension of the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 season for one week. The decision was taken following a high-level meeting of the IPL Governing Council and consultations with key stakeholders including franchises, players, broadcasters, and sponsors.
The suspension comes in light of heightened national security concerns following a recent terrorist attack and subsequent military aggression by Pakistan, to which India’s Armed Forces are responding through Operation Sindoor. The BCCI emphasized that while cricket is a unifying national passion, the sovereignty and security of the country are of paramount importance.
“At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation,” said Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary, BCCI. “We salute the bravery and selfless service of our Armed Forces and fully support the Government of India in its response to the recent crisis.”
The decision reflects the collective sentiment of players, franchises, and fans, many of whom expressed solidarity with the Armed Forces and the need to prioritize national interest above sporting events. The BCCI acknowledged the understanding and support of the league’s official broadcaster Jiostar, title sponsor TATA, and all associated partners.
Further updates on the resumption of IPL 2025, including revised schedules and venues, will be shared after a comprehensive assessment and in consultation with relevant authorities.
The BCCI reaffirmed its commitment to act in the best interest of the nation, pledging full cooperation in every measure aimed at safeguarding India’s integrity.
