Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Friday held a high-level meeting with Ms. Lauren Dreyer, Senior Business Operations Lead at Starlink (SpaceX), to discuss the company’s proposed entry into Goa. The meeting was attended by IT & Tourism Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte and senior government officials.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over Starlink’s interest in partnering with Goa to strengthen the State’s digital ecosystem. The proposal aims to bring high-speed, reliable satellite-based internet connectivity to some of Goa’s most underserved regions, including remote villages, coastal belts, and fisheries communities. Educational institutions and health centres located in difficult-to-reach areas are also expected to benefit significantly.
CM Sawant said that Starlink’s advanced satellite technology has the potential to accelerate the Government’s Digital Goa vision by ensuring seamless connectivity across the State. The discussions highlighted several key sectors where this collaboration could create major impact — rural connectivity, digital nomad ecosystem, healthcare delivery, education enhancement, tourism development, maritime operations, and disaster response systems.
With Goa emerging as a hub for innovation and digital advancement, the entry of SpaceX’s Starlink marks a major step forward in bridging connectivity gaps and powering inclusive development across the State.
