Health Minister Vishwajit Rane Conducts Surprise Inspection at Mapusa District Hospital, Suspends Three Staffers

Mapusa, Goa – February 24, 2025: Goa’s Health Minister Vishwajit Rane conducted a surprise inspection at the Mapusa Asilo, North District Hospital today to assess the quality of healthcare services. His visit aimed to evaluate the efficiency of key hospital departments, including emergency care, inpatient wards, OPD services, and diagnostics. He reviewed the availability of essential medicines, medical equipment, and overall hospital operations to ensure seamless patient care.

During his visit, Rane interacted with patients, listened to their concerns, and expressed satisfaction with the diligence shown by doctors and hospital staff. Patients shared their feedback on treatment and facilities, and the minister assured them of further improvements to enhance their healthcare experience. He also discussed with hospital staff the necessary measures to improve healthcare delivery in the state.

“We are committed to strengthening healthcare services so that Goans receive the best possible treatment,” Rane stated.

The surprise visit was reportedly prompted by complaints from the local MLA regarding issues at the hospital. During his inspection, Rane identified resource shortfalls and addressed concerns related to ambulance services. Taking strict action, he suspended the overall in-charge of ambulances and two drivers over alleged lapses. Additionally, he announced plans to request the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) to take over the maintenance of the hospital to ensure better management.
