Goa Contractors Union Calls Crucial Meeting on June 20 to Support Government Transparency Drive

Panaji, Goa – June 19, 2025:
The Goa Contractors Union (GCU) has announced a key meeting scheduled for Friday, 20th June 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall, Panaji. The gathering holds major significance for the contractor community across the state.

The primary focus of the meeting is to extend unequivocal support to the Hon’ble PWD Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant for his bold and commendable decision to eliminate favouritism and bring transparency to the Public Works Department. The GCU has expressed full solidarity with the government’s initiative aimed at promoting fairness, accountability, and integrity in the system.

The Union has taken serious note of a reported resolution passed by the South Goa Zilla Panchayat which opposes the government’s directive and allegedly seeks to uphold outdated and irregular practices. This matter will be taken up for deliberation, and the Union is expected to decide on a firm course of action in response to this development.

In addition, the meeting will cover the following important points:

  • Announcement of Union Elections
  • Presentation of a comprehensive report highlighting the various initiatives and welfare programs undertaken by the GCU for the contractor community

The Goa Contractors Union urges all affiliated contractors to attend this important meeting without fail, as key decisions impacting the future of the profession and public infrastructure will be taken.
