Civil Defense Mock Drill Successfully Conducted at IOCL Terminal Vasco
Vasco, May 7, 2025:
A Civil Defense mock drill was successfully conducted at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Terminal in Vasco at 4 PM today under the supervision of the District Collector of South Goa. The drill was aimed at evaluating the preparedness of emergency response teams in the event of an air strike scenario.
Shri Pravinjay Pandit, Mamlatdar of Mormugao Taluka, acted as the Incident Commander for the operation. Upon receiving an alert simulating a mock air strike on Vasco, the Incident Commander swiftly activated the Quick Response Team. The team comprised officials from the Fire Services, Police Department, Civil Defense, CISF, Revenue Department, and NCC.
The mock operation involved the rescue of 30 workers who were reportedly trapped within the IOCL premises. The Quick Response Team carried out the rescue mission efficiently and safely.
Out of the 30 rescued workers, 26 were moved to the relief centre set up at the Cyclone Shelter in Dabolim, while four severely injured workers were immediately shifted to Chicalim Hospital for advanced medical care. Medical officials on site administered first aid and ensured timely treatment for the injured.
This nationwide mock drill tested the readiness of emergency services and inter-agency coordination, ensuring better preparedness for real-life disasters.
This mock drill highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination and timely response in emergency situations, ensuring that all teams are well-prepared to handle real-life scenarios during war fare or any such act this mock drill was conducted as per MHA guidelines across nation.
