Bihar Deputy CM Faces EC Notice for Holding Two EPIC Cards
Patna 10 August 2025: The Election Commission of India has issued a notice to Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha for allegedly holding two Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs).
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the Bankipur Assembly Constituency has directed Mr. Sinha to submit a detailed explanation by 5 p.m. on August 14, after his name was found on the electoral rolls of both Bankipur and Lakhisarai Assembly Constituencies.
According to the ERO-cum-DCLR of Patna Sadar, Mr. Sinha’s name appears in the voter list of polling booth number 405 in Bankipur, as well as in the electoral rolls of Lakhisarai.
This marks the second high-profile case of dual EPIC cards in Bihar, following a similar controversy involving former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.
Reacting to the allegations, Mr. Sinha stated that he had already applied for the removal of his name from the Bankipur electoral roll.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, addressing a press conference in Patna earlier today, sharply criticised the Deputy CM over the matter, accusing him of violating electoral norms.
