Vijay Sardesai Slams Goa Government Over Rising Unemployment, Youth Forced to Risk Lives for Livelihood

Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijay Sardesai has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Goa government, accusing it of failing to provide employment opportunities for Goan youth, forcing them to take dangerous routes in search of livelihood. Taking to social media, Sardesai highlighted the grim reality faced by Goans, particularly those deported from foreign shores after attempting to migrate illegally.

“The plight of deported Goans exposes the government’s abject failure and indifference. With the unemployment rate the second highest in India, jobs available only on cash payments, and full patronage for criminals running recruitment agencies, the Goa government has effectively sealed the fate of #Goa’s qualified and sincere job seekers,” Sardesai stated.

Sardesai pointed out that instead of creating sustainable employment opportunities, the government has turned a blind eye to the plight of Goan youth. He alleged that the authorities have failed to curb fraudulent recruitment agencies, which have been exploiting desperate job seekers and leading them into dangerous migration routes, including the notorious ‘donkey route’ to the United States.

“Why should even one young #Goemkar risk everything, leave their parents and their homeland, to take the donkey route to the US? This BJP Goa government has no strategy, no clue, and no interest in creating jobs or safeguarding the future of our youth,” Sardesai wrote.

Describing the situation as “unpardonable” and “an affront to all Goans,” the GFP leader urged the government to wake up and take immediate steps to address the crisis. He called for stringent action against fraudulent job agencies and the formulation of a concrete employment strategy to ensure that Goans can find respectable jobs within their own state.

The issue of unemployment in Goa has been a longstanding concern, with many young professionals struggling to secure stable jobs. Sardesai’s remarks have sparked fresh debate on the government’s handling of employment policies and its commitment to the welfare of the youth.

His strong statement has resonated with many Goans, who have expressed their frustration over the lack of job opportunities. Opposition parties and activists have also joined the chorus, demanding that the state government take accountability for the rising unemployment crisis.

As the debate intensifies, all eyes are now on the BJP-led administration to see whether it will respond to these allegations and take concrete steps to address the growing concerns of Goa’s youth.
