Uttarakhand Avalanche 32 Workers Rescued, Search Continues Amid Bad Weather

Rescue Efforts Underway Near Mana Village

Chamoli, Uttarakhand – In a massive avalanche that struck near Mana village in Chamoli district this morning, 32 trapped workers have been successfully rescued. The rescue operation, spearheaded by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and supported by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), is still underway as several workers remain missing.

BRO Commander Ankur Mahajan informed Akashvani that bad weather conditions are hampering the search efforts. Despite the challenges, rescue teams are working relentlessly to locate and evacuate the remaining trapped individuals.

Government Assures Full Support

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have spoken to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the situation. They assured all possible assistance from the central government to expedite the rescue mission.

“The safe evacuation of those trapped in the avalanche is the top priority of the government,” said Home Minister Amit Shah.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who reviewed the rescue operations at the State Emergency Control Room in Dehradun, emphasized that all agencies are working on a war footing. “The central government, state government, and all rescue teams are making every possible effort to ensure the safe rescue of all workers,” he told reporters.

Challenges Ahead

With adverse weather conditions making the rescue operation more difficult, authorities are racing against time to locate the remaining trapped workers. The high-altitude region near Mana village, close to the India-China border, is known for extreme weather conditions, adding to the complexity of the operation.

The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by workers in mountainous terrains, particularly in areas prone to avalanches. Authorities urge people in the region to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines to prevent further casualties.
