UIDAI Successfully Conducts Face Authentication PoC During NEET UG 2025 in Delhi
New Delhi, May 5: In a landmark move towards enhancing examination security, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has successfully conducted a Proof of Concept (PoC) on the use of Aadhaar-based face authentication during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 held yesterday in New Delhi. The examination was organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The PoC was aimed at testing the feasibility and reliability of facial recognition as a biometric tool to authenticate the identity of candidates appearing for one of the largest entrance exams in India. This initiative represents a major technological advancement in securing high-stakes exams from impersonation and fraud.
The project was conducted in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the NTA. Aadhaar Face Authentication technology was implemented at select NEET UG centres across the capital. The system integrated seamlessly with NIC’s digital infrastructure and NTA’s examination protocols.
According to officials, the pilot run successfully demonstrated the scalability, security, and student-friendly nature of the Aadhaar-based facial authentication process. It also showcased its future potential to strengthen verification methods across various national-level assessments.
The successful execution of the PoC marks a significant step in using cutting-edge biometric technologies to ensure fairness and transparency in examinations.
