Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho Chairs 252nd KTCL Board Meeting: Key Decisions Taken
Porvorim, Goa – Transport Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho presided over the 252nd Board of Directors Meeting of Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) at the KTCL Conference Hall, Porvorim. The meeting was attended by Shri Ulhas Tuenkar, Hon’ble Chairman, and Shri Kritesh Naik Gaunkar, Hon’ble Vice Chairman, alongside other esteemed board members and officials.
During the meeting, several significant agenda points were discussed, focusing on enhancing Goa’s public transportation system. Among the key decisions were:
- Expansion of Share Capital: Measures to strengthen KTCL’s financial base and support infrastructural developments.
- Procurement of 50 New Electric AC Buses: The board approved the purchase of 50 new 9-meter electric AC buses with depot-based charging infrastructure to boost sustainable transport in the state.
- Development of Supporting Facilities: Plans were outlined for infrastructure development to support the new fleet and improve operational efficiency.
- Revival and Creation of Posts: The board deliberated on reviving essential posts and creating new ones to strengthen the workforce.
- Implementation of Smart Ticketing System and Mobile App: A modernized digital ticketing system will be introduced to enhance commuter convenience and streamline operations.
- Extension of the “Mhaji Bus Yojana”: The successful scheme providing free bus travel for women and students is set to expand further.
The meeting saw the presence of several key dignitaries, including Shri Pravimal Abhishek, Director of Transport and KTCL Director; Shri Rohan J. Kaskar, Managing Director, KTCL; and KTCL Directors Shri Bayo Bhandari, Shri Shamba Gaonkar, Shri Prabhakar Gaonkar, Smt. Madhukala Shirodkar, Shri Kapil Sardesai, and Smt. Ujwala Naik.
KTCL reaffirmed its commitment to improving Goa’s public transportation system by adopting sustainable and commuter-centric policies. The board emphasized the need for innovation and efficiency in making public transport a more viable and eco-friendly alternative.
