Shri. Gopal Parsekar Inaugurates ‘Vision on Empowering Livelihoods Towards Becoming an Agro Entrepreneur’ Programme at Sankhali

Sankhali, Goa – 25th September 2024: In a bid to empower rural women and support their entrepreneurial journey in agriculture, Shri. Gopal Parsekar, Project Director & CEO of the Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM), inaugurated a transformative programme titled “Vision on Empowering Livelihoods Towards Becoming an Agro Entrepreneur”. The event, organized by GSRLM in partnership with the ICICI Foundation, was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali.

The programme aims to provide Self-Help Group (SHG) women farmers with the necessary tools and knowledge to enhance their income and grow into successful agro-entrepreneurs. Shri. Parsekar, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in building sustainable livelihoods and encouraging entrepreneurship among rural women.

As a key part of the programme, GSRLM and ICICI Foundation distributed 100 vermicompost beds (Vermibeds) to SHG beneficiaries. This initiative is expected to improve organic farming practices and increase the income of SHG members. The Bicholim block has been chosen as the pilot project, where SHG women farmers are actively involved in various livelihood activities.

The event was a significant step towards fostering rural entrepreneurship and supporting women farmers in Goa, marking the beginning of an impactful journey for these SHG beneficiaries.
