Garbage Pile-Up on Vasco Varunapuri-Shantinagar National Highway

Garbage pile has formed on Vasco Varunapuri – Shantinagar National Highway. Murgaon Municipality has completely failed to control the waste. Due to the accumulation of garbage on the side of the national highway, the possibility of an accident cannot be ruled out due to the increasing number of stray animals here. For this, the concerned department is appealing to the drivers and pedestrians to take the initiative to remove the garbage from here.

Although Murgaon Municipality is of ‘A’ status in the state, it is understood from the accumulated waste in many places that they are not trying to solve the waste problem. There are 25 wards coming under Murgaon Municipality and every day garbage is collected from house to house in each ward. But in some wards it is seen that house owners are putting the household waste in zero waste bins instead of giving it to door to door waste collectors. Due to this, a large amount of waste is found in the zero waste bins every day. Also, since the zero waste bins collect wet and dry waste, the municipal employees dispose of it. Very difficult to apply.

The Murgaon Municipality has set up a zero garbage box on the side of the Vasco Varunapuri-Shantinagar National Highway, and the locals have said that Murgaon Municipality is throwing excessive waste outside the area. Due to the dumping of garbage on the national highway, bad smell has spread everywhere. Due to this, pedestrians have to leave the footpath and walk on the highway. Also, there is a possibility of accidents due to the large number of stray animals coming near the accumulated garbage. For this, the Murgaon Municipality should quickly remove the garbage stored outside the zero garbage box on the side of the Varunapuri Shantinagar highway. The demand has been made by local residents.
