Baina, Mormugao (September 20, 2024) – Baina Beach is set to receive a complete facelift as part of a comprehensive beautification project, announced Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar. Speaking during the Swacchata Abhiyaan organized to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Amonkar highlighted that the initiative would focus on aesthetic improvements, addressing key infrastructural and logistical issues, and ultimately boosting local tourism and employment.
One of the major concerns that will be resolved as part of the revamp is the long-standing parking issue faced by traditional fishermen. The plan includes creating designated parking areas that would not only meet the needs of local fishermen but also ease congestion along the beach.
“We are committed to ensuring that both the traditional livelihoods of our fishermen and the tourism potential of Baina Beach thrive together. This project will enhance the beach’s beauty while maintaining its cultural significance,” said Amonkar.
In addition to resolving the parking issue, the project will focus on upgrading the road infrastructure and enhancing illumination along the beach. These improvements aim to create a safer and more inviting environment for tourists, which, in turn, is expected to generate more local employment opportunities by attracting increased tourist footfall.
The MLA emphasized that the beautification efforts would align with the broader vision of sustainable development, promoting tourism that benefits the local community while preserving the natural beauty of the region. The Swacchata Abhiyaan event also saw local residents and volunteers actively participating in cleaning efforts, further underscoring the importance of maintaining public spaces for communal and economic benefit.
“By making Baina Beach a more attractive destination, we are not only uplifting our community but also contributing to the larger goal of Goa’s economic development,” Amonkar concluded.
The project is seen as a key step in bolstering tourism in the Mormugao region, with local stakeholders optimistic that it will bring long-term benefits to the economy and the livelihoods of residents.
