South District Police Gear Up for Ganesh Chaturthi, Hold Coordination Meeting with Mandals
Margao 22 August 2025: In preparation for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the South District Police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Shri Tikram Singh Verma, held a coordination meeting with representatives of various Ganesh Utsav Mandals. The meeting focused on ensuring smooth festival arrangements, public safety, and safeguarding property during the celebrations.
During the discussions, the police emphasized strict adherence to court orders, traffic management measures, noise level regulations, and effective crowd control strategies to guarantee a peaceful and safe festival for all devotees.
A detailed traffic management plan has been chalked out, particularly for the immersion processions, to prevent snarls and facilitate seamless movement of devotees and vehicles.
In the run-up to the festival, the police have intensified special drives, including late-night foot patrolling, with a broader intent of precaution and community safety. High-footfall areas such as markets, beaches, bus stands, and railway stations have been specifically targeted, where random checks of passersby are being carried out.
Additionally, police teams have focused on areas around industrial estates, factories, and slum clusters. Door-to-door verification drives and checks of identity documents are being conducted to ensure thorough vigilance and prevent untoward incidents.
The South Goa police reiterated their commitment to ensuring that Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations proceed in a safe, disciplined, and joyous manner.
