Shri Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates India’s First Curved Flyover-Cum-Cable-Stayed ROB in Goa, Paving the Way for Enhanced Connectivity and Economic Growth

A Milestone for Goa’s Infrastructure Development

Goa witnessed a historic moment as Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, inaugurated India’s first curved Flyover-cum-Cable-Stayed ROB, connecting Ravindra Bhavan to MPT Gate No. 9. This landmark project, alongside the foundation-laying of five major four-laning highway projects, is set to transform Goa’s connectivity, boosting tourism and socio-economic growth.

Key Highlights of the Projects:

Inauguration of Curved Flyover-cum-Cable-Stayed ROB:

Length: 8 km

Cost: ₹644 crore

Significance:

Enhanced connectivity to Mormugao Port.

Boost to tourism and local economy.

Foundation Stones Laid for 4-Laning Projects:

1. Flyover from MES College Junction to Bogmalo Junction & VUP at Queeny Junction

Cost: ₹472 crore (NH 566)

2. Four-laning of road from the end of Zuari Approaches to the start of Margao Bypass

Cost: ₹398 crore (NH 66)

3. Four-laning of Highway from Navelim to Cuncolim

Cost: ₹747 crore (NH 66)

4. Four-laning of Highway from Bendordem to Pollem

Cost: ₹1,376 crore (NH 66)

5. Four-laning of Highway from Ponda to Bhoma

Cost: ₹557 crore (NH 748)

Vision for Goa’s Development

These projects, worth over ₹4,200 crore, are a testament to the commitment of the Double Engine BJP Government to the development of Goa. By addressing key infrastructural challenges, these initiatives aim to:

Eliminate major traffic junctions for safer travel.

Segregate highway and local traffic.

Enable signal-free and fast connectivity between Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

Expressing gratitude to the Union Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stated, “These transformative projects align with our vision of a Viksit Goa and #ViksitBharat. Together, we are building an efficient, long-term mobility plan for the state.”

The projects are expected to reduce travel time across key routes, including:

Patradevi to Pollem

Vasco to Ponda

Panaji to Ponda

With the Double Engine Sarkar ensuring timely execution, Goa is on the fast track to becoming a developed and #SwayampurnaGoa.
