The security forces have eliminated 31 Naxalites in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh.
Bijapur, Chhattisgarh: In a major success for security forces, 31 Naxalites were eliminated in a fierce encounter in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. This is one of the biggest counter-insurgency operations in the region in recent years.
According to officials, the operation was launched based on intelligence inputs about the presence of a large group of Naxalites in the dense forests of Bijapur. A joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) engaged in an intense gun battle with the insurgents.
“During the operation, 31 Naxalites were neutralized. Several weapons, ammunition, and explosives have been recovered from the site,” said a senior police official.
The security forces have also sustained injuries in the encounter, and efforts are underway to evacuate and provide medical aid to the injured personnel.
Chhattisgarh has been a hotbed of Naxal activities, and this operation is seen as a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency in the region. Authorities have stepped up anti-Naxal operations in the Bastar division, which includes districts like Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada, known for frequent Naxalite attacks.
This operation highlights the government’s firm stance against left-wing extremism and its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the affected regions. Further combing operations are underway to track down any remaining insurgents in the area.
