Retreat Ceremony Resumes at Punjab Border Check Posts Following Temporary Suspension
Punjab, May 20: The Border Security Force (BSF) has announced that the ceremonial evening retreat at the three joint check posts along the Punjab frontier will officially resume starting today. These include the iconic sites at Atari, Hussainiwala, and Sadqi.
In a statement, the BSF clarified that today’s ceremony will be held exclusively for media personnel. From tomorrow onwards, the retreat ceremony will be open to the general public as well.
The daily retreat ceremonies had been suspended for the public since May 8, a day after India carried out Operation Sindoor—a targeted strike against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The operation came in response to the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent lives were lost. The calculated and swift response by Indian forces was aimed at dismantling terror networks and sending a clear message of zero tolerance for terrorism.
The resumption of the retreat ceremony marks a return to normalcy and reaffirms the country’s resolve to uphold peace and security at the borders.
