Renowned Artist Ravi Kiran Parmeshwar to Paint Live Portrait of DD Kosambi
Goa: Acclaimed artist Ravi Kiran Parmeshwar, known for his remarkable portraits and large-scale murals, is set to create a live painting of the eminent intellectual DD Kosambi during a special festival from February 24-28, 2025, at Kala Academy Goa. The event will showcase the artist’s creative journey, culminating in the unveiling of the portrait by the Chief Guest on the final day.
An Artist’s Journey of Passion and Resilience
Born to a middle-class teacher, Ravi Kiran Parmeshwar’s journey is one of sheer dedication and artistic excellence. His talent was evident from his school days when he painted a massive mural of freedom fighters on the walls of his alma mater, Mata School. Over the years, his work has found a place in prestigious collections, including commissioned pieces like:
- A Good Shepherd rendition of Lord Jesus Christ
- A portrait of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama
- A striking portrait of Ratan Tata during the Taj Fort Aguada Golden Jubilee celebrations
His artistic repertoire extends to landscapes, monuments, and portraits of distinguished personalities, including the Chief Minister of Goa.
Murals of National Significance
Ravi Kiran’s expertise in portraiture and large-scale murals has earned him recognition beyond Goa. His iconic Gandhi mural stands at the National Salt Satyagraha Memorial, alongside works of accomplished Indian and international artists.
Live Painting: A Unique Artistic Expression
In 2024, Ravi Kiran wowed audiences by painting live at a concert by Australian Catholic priest and singer, Father Rob Galea. He also showcased his skills at Goa’s iconic Cashew Fest, where he captured the strength in unity within diversity theme of the Indian Armed Forces. During the event, he also painted a live portrait of GFDC Chairperson and MLA Dr. Deviya Rane, as part of an Armed Forces Flag Day initiative by Madame Rosa Distillery.

Continuing his journey of creating art that resonates with history and intellect, Ravi Kiran Parmeshwar, assisted by budding artist Eric Pereira de Andrade, will now bring DD Kosambi’s legacy to life on canvas. The much-anticipated painting will be revealed at the festival’s closing ceremony.
