Hisar, April 14 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a public rally in Hisar on Monday, accusing it of promoting vote bank politics and betraying the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. His remarks came in the backdrop of opposition criticism over the recently amended Waqf Act.

PM Modi alleged that Congress has historically treated Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) as second-class citizens, ignoring the principles of equality and justice enshrined in the Constitution by Dr. Ambedkar.

“Congress has become the destroyer of the Constitution,” the Prime Minister declared. “Dr. Ambedkar envisioned a nation where the poor and backward could live with dignity and pursue their dreams. But Congress spread the virus of vote bank politics, betraying that vision.”

He further criticized the Congress era for excluding marginalized communities from the mainstream economy, saying that even basic banking services were inaccessible for them.

“During their time, banks wouldn’t even open their doors for SCs, STs, and OBCs. Loans and welfare schemes were mere fantasies. Today, the majority of beneficiaries under the Jan Dhan Yojana belong to these communities,” he asserted.

Turning his attention to the Waqf Board, PM Modi alleged rampant mismanagement of community welfare lands. “There are lakhs of hectares of land under Waqf, yet the poor never benefitted from it. Instead, land mafias thrived,” he said.

The Prime Minister defended the recent amendments to the Waqf Act, stating that the changes will prevent exploitation and restore justice. “Under the new provisions, no land or property belonging to Adivasis can be claimed by the Waqf Board. This is a step toward genuine social justice. Poor and Pasmanda Muslims will now receive what is rightfully theirs.”

PM Modi also accused Congress of attempting to erase Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy, claiming that the party had opposed him during his lifetime.

“Congress humiliated Babasaheb, made him lose elections twice, and tried to erase his contribution. While Dr. Ambedkar was a protector of the Constitution, Congress has repeatedly acted as its destroyer,” he charged.

He contrasted the Congress’s alleged failures with the BJP-led government’s achievements. “While Congress leaders lived in luxury with swimming pools, only 16 out of every 100 village households had piped water. In just six to seven years, we’ve provided clean drinking water to over 12 crore rural households. Today, 80 percent of rural homes have tap water,” he noted.

Reaffirming his party’s stand on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), PM Modi referenced its implementation in BJP-ruled Uttarakhand. “The Constitution calls for one civil code for all citizens—a truly secular code. Congress never had the courage to implement it. But we have, and Congress continues to oppose it,” he said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi flagged off the first direct commercial flight from Hisar Airport to Ayodhya and laid the foundation stone for a new terminal at the airport. Several other development projects were also inaugurated during his visit, marking another milestone in Haryana’s infrastructure growth.

As the Lok Sabha elections approach, the Prime Minister’s remarks set the stage for a politically charged campaign, placing Congress on the defensive while highlighting the BJP’s narrative of governance, justice, and constitutional values.
