Mormugao Block Congress Committee Files Criminal Complaint Against MVR Infra for Negligence in Worker’s Death
Vasco, March 6, 2025: The Mormugao Block Congress Committee, led by Sharad (Nitin) Chopdekar, Sahis Amerkar, and others, has filed a criminal complaint against MVR Infra for gross negligence, which resulted in the tragic death of an electricity department staff member, Swapnil Chindarkar.
The complaint, submitted to the Vasco Police Station, details the incident that occurred on March 4, 2025, at the MVR Infra construction site near Vishal Megamart, Dabolim. It alleges that due to poorly constructed scaffolding and failure to adhere to safety regulations, the structure collapsed and fatally injured the worker while he was on duty.
Key Allegations Against MVR Infra:
- Negligent construction practices – The scaffolding lacked proper safety measures and was not secured as per standard engineering norms.
- Violation of industrial safety standards – The company failed to provide a safe working environment.
- Repeated safety lapses – Despite past incidents, no corrective action was taken, endangering workers and the public.

- IPC Section 304A – Causing death by negligence.
- IPC Sections 337 & 338 – Endangering life and causing grievous hurt.
- IPC Section 287 – Negligent conduct with respect to machinery.
- Factories Act, 1948 & Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996 – Failure to ensure worker safety.

- Strict legal action against the responsible officers, including the company’s directors and project managers.
