Mega Medical Camp at Sada, Mormugoa Treats 1,137 Patients, Setting New Record

Mormugao, Goa – The Mega Medical Camp at Murgaon High School, Headland-Sada, was a monumental success, providing crucial healthcare services to the people of Mormugao. With 1,137 individuals receiving medical attention, the camp surpassed the previous day’s record of 1,058, at Shiroda Mega Health Camp highlighting the growing importance of accessible healthcare in the region.

The medical camp Organized under the vision of #AyushmanBharat, an initiative led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda ji, the medical camp aimed to ensure that quality healthcare reaches every citizen without barriers. It was heartening to witness people from all walks of life, including women stepping out of their homes to prioritize their well-being.

A Community Effort for Better Healthcare

The camp saw a massive turnout from the early hours of the morning, with people queuing up for free consultations, expert advice, and diagnostic tests. Specialists from Goa Medical College (GMC) and Goa Dental College (GDC) offered their expertise, ensuring that patients received high-quality care across various disciplines.

The function by inaugrated by  Mormugao MLA Shri Sankalp Amonkar, Dr. Rupa Naik (Director for Health Services), Dr. Shivanand Bandekar (Dean, GMC), Dr. Ida De Noronha de Ataide (Dean, GDC), and Health Officer Dr. Audi, whose relentless dedication made this initiative a grand success. Their efforts are shaping a healthier and stronger Goa.

Commitment to Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure

Speaking at the function, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar assured that within three months, the foundation stone for a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Mormugao will be laid. He also requested the Hon’ble Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to conduct an annual mega health camp in the constituency to ensure continued medical support for residents. In a phone address, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced that a Dialysis Centre will soon be operational in Mormugao. Until a permanent PHC is constructed, a temporary healthcare facility will be established to provide for Dialysis unit  essential medical services. The file have been moved for building new PHC in Mormugoa Constituency he assured all type of support to Sankalp Amonkar.

Dr. Shivanand Bandekar, Dean of GMC, commended the overwhelming response to the camp and emphasized that Mormugao is on track to set new records for the highest number of patients served at a medical camp.
