Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Inaugurates Madhav Tiger Reserve
Strengthening Wildlife Conservation and Tourism in the State
Shivpuri, March 10: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav today inaugurated the state’s ninth tiger reserve – Madhav Tiger Reserve – by releasing a tiger and tigress into the park. Along with this, he also inaugurated a 13-kilometre-long stone safety wall inside the reserve, aimed at enhancing the safety of wildlife.
A Major Milestone in Conservation Efforts
During the inauguration, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for designating Madhav National Park as the 58th Tiger Reserve of India. He emphasized that the creation of this tiger reserve would significantly boost wildlife conservation efforts while also promoting eco-tourism in the region.
Spanning over 37,000 hectares, Madhav Tiger Reserve is strategically located between Panna Tiger Reserve and Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, further strengthening the tiger corridor between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Additionally, its connectivity with Kuno National Park—home to the newly introduced African Cheetahs—is expected to accelerate tourism growth in the Gwalior-Shivpuri-Sheopur region.
Boost to Tourism and Employment
With the presence of tigers in Madhav Tiger Reserve and cheetahs in Kuno National Park, tourism is set to witness a significant surge, creating new employment opportunities for local communities. The Madhya Pradesh government is committed to making the state a leading wildlife tourism hub while ensuring the protection and conservation of its rich biodiversity.
Madhya Pradesh: The ‘Tiger State’ of India
Madhya Pradesh continues to solidify its position as the ‘Tiger State’ of India, now boasting nine tiger reserves – the highest in the country. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision to preserve the tiger population, ensure ecological balance, and drive sustainable tourism development.
