Long-Pending Sewerage Line Demand Fulfilled for Goa Rehabilitation Colony, Mormugao MLA Promises More Reforms

Mormugao, October 11, 2024 — The long-awaited demand for a sewerage system at the Goa Rehabilitation Colony in Sada has finally been met. Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar inaugurated the newly installed sewerage line today, marking a significant step in improving the infrastructure of the colony.

The sewerage line, which had been a point of contention for years, was seen as essential to enhancing the sanitation and living conditions for the colony’s residents. In his address during the inauguration, MLA Amonkar emphasized that this is just the beginning of a series of reforms aimed at upgrading the colony’s infrastructure. He reassured the locals that their ongoing water supply issues would also be resolved soon.

“We understand the challenges faced by the residents here, especially concerning the water supply. Plans are already in motion to replace the current water tanks with larger-capacity ones, ensuring that the colony has a consistent and adequate water supply,” Amonkar said.

Another major issue raised by the residents was the ownership of their homes. Many of the colony’s inhabitants have been residing in homes provided by the Goa Rehabilitation Board but have not been able to secure ownership. Addressing this concern, Amonkar stated that efforts are being made to facilitate the transfer of property ownership from the Rehabilitation Board to the residents.

“This is not just about improving infrastructure; it’s about empowering the people of this colony. We are working towards transferring the ownership of these homes to the rightful residents, ensuring they have security and a sense of belonging,” he added.

The residents of the Goa Rehabilitation Colony welcomed these initiatives, expressing gratitude for the long-overdue attention to their problems. The newly inaugurated sewerage system is expected to significantly improve the quality of life in the colony, while the promise of better water facilities and home ownership has raised hopes for a more secure future.

MLA Amonkar concluded his speech by reiterating his commitment to further developing the colony and addressing the residents’ grievances, assuring them of his continued support.
