India to Have its Own Space Station by 2035, Indian Astronaut to Land on Moon by 2040: Dr. Jitendra Singh

New Delhi: Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announced a major milestone in India’s space ambitions, revealing that the country will have its own space station, Bharat Antariksha Station, by 2035. Additionally, an Indian astronaut will land on the moon by 2040. The statement was made during a press conference in New Delhi highlighting the ‘Achievements of all Science Ministries’.

Dr. Singh lauded the space sector reforms initiated by the government, stating they have significantly enhanced India’s global standing in space exploration. “The space reforms have unlocked the true potential of the space sector,” he said, emphasizing the increasing role of private players and startups in advancing India’s capabilities.

The Minister further highlighted the achievements of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and its contribution to the global space industry. He noted that India has successfully launched 432 foreign satellites, with an impressive 90% of these launches occurring in the past decade, showcasing India’s growing expertise and reliability in the field of satellite technology.

The ambitious timeline for the Bharat Antariksha Station and the moon landing reflects India’s commitment to becoming a global leader in space exploration. Dr. Singh’s announcement comes as India rides high on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which established India as the first nation to achieve a soft landing near the moon’s south pole.

India’s space station project is expected to provide a platform for advanced scientific research, technological innovation, and international collaboration. The plans for a human moon mission further underline India’s aspirations to lead in space exploration while fostering self-reliance and innovation.
