India Commemorates 75 Years of the Constitution’s Adoption with Year-Long Celebrations

New Delhi: The Government of India has announced a year-long celebration starting tomorrow to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The celebrations, themed under the tagline “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan” (Our Constitution, Our Pride), will culminate on November 26, 2025, marking the historic day in 1949 when the Constituent Assembly adopted the Indian Constitution.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, addressing the press in New Delhi, outlined the importance of the celebrations as a tribute to the nation’s constitutional heritage. “This is not just a celebration of Parliament but a celebration of the entire country. I urge everyone to actively participate in the activities planned,” he said. A grand inaugural event will be held at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, where President Droupadi Murmu will address the members of both Houses of Parliament.

Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also shared details of the nationwide initiative, emphasizing the contributions of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, and the efforts of the 15 remarkable women who were part of the Drafting Committee. The celebrations will include activities at the village, district, and state levels to ensure public engagement and awareness of the Constitution’s core values of justice, equality, and liberty.

Activities Planned:

Nationwide awareness campaigns highlighting the significance of the Constitution.

Educational programs in schools and colleges to promote constitutional values.

Public events and exhibitions on the making of the Constitution and the contributions of its framers.

Cultural programs to celebrate the diversity and unity enshrined in the Constitution.

The Indian Constitution, adopted on November 26, 1949, and enforced on January 26, 1950, is one of the longest written constitutions in the world, embodying the vision of a democratic, secular, and inclusive India. The celebrations aim to inspire citizens to uphold these principles and honor the legacy of the Constitution’s makers.
