Health Minister Vishwajit Rane Inspects Goa’s First Cancer Super Speciality Hospital Site

Panaji, 16 February 2025 – Health Minister Vishwajit Rane yesterday visited and inspected the Tertiary Centre for Cancer Care site, where work is progressing rapidly for Goa’s first Cancer Super Speciality Hospital. This landmark initiative is set to revolutionize cancer care in the state, ensuring comprehensive and advanced medical services for patients.

The upcoming facility is being developed in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre, a premier institution in oncology. The hospital aims to enhance cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care. Additionally, it will support academic programs, clinical research, and maintain a hospital-based cancer registry, reinforcing Goa’s commitment to strengthening oncology services.

During the inspection, Minister Rane was accompanied by Dr. Shivanand Bandekar, Dean of Goa Medical College (GMC). Dr. Bandekar’s expertise will play a key role in shaping the state-of-the-art facility, ensuring that advanced and accessible cancer care is available to all Goans.

Speaking about the project, Rane emphasized that the Cancer Super Speciality Hospital will be a major step towards providing high-quality cancer treatment within the state, reducing the need for patients to travel to other parts of the country for specialized care.

With world-class infrastructure and expert collaboration, this hospital is expected to set a new benchmark in healthcare services, making Goa a hub for comprehensive cancer care.
