AAP initiates campaign against double tracking, to go house-to-house in Vasco near rail tracks to expose hazards of coal dust
Vasco 9 Sept 2025: “AAP Will be exposing the health hazards of coal dust by going to houses near Railway tracks and doing FB Live, to show what life near coal transport means. AAP slams BJP’s destructive mentality and favouritism of Corporates over Goenkar’s This is not just dust, it is the slow death of our people” Sandesh Teleikar DessaiThe Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa has launched a powerful grassroots campaign in Mormugao constituency, exposing how coal transportation is poisoning the lives of local residents. The campaign, which began in Sada junction on Tuesday, showed firsthand experience of how coal dust has invaded homes.
AAP leader Sandesh Teleikar Dessai demonstrated the ground reality by wiping coal dust off window panes and switchboards inside a local’s house.
“This is not just coal dust, it is the slow death of our people. The BJP government is shamelessly pushing double-tracking to allow more coal transportation, without caring for the pain of Vasco residents. Families are suffering, children are falling sick, and vulnerable communities are being pushed to the edge. This is the legacy BJP is leaving behind,” he said.
Teleikar also tore into Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai’s recent statement that he would stop coal transportation if made CM “What was Sardesai doing when he was Deputy CM? His silence then proves he is no different from the BJP. Congress, GFP, BJP-all are opportunists. They only care about power, not people,” he said.
Highlighting AAP’s commitment, Teleikar declared that the party will not stop here. “We will continue this campaign, one house at a time, to show Goans the dark reality of coal transportation. The BJP cannot hide behind empty promises anymore. Goans are watching, and they will hold this government accountable in 2027.”
AAP leader Sunil Loran further added that Goa deserves industries that create jobs and follow sustainable practices. “Instead of expanding coal capacity, the government must invest in sustainable development. What the BJP is doing today is robbing people of their health and their future,” he further said “Govt should expand sustainable projects, not coal capacity”.
