Goa’s Transport Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho Inaugurates New KTCL Buses for St. Francis Xavier Exposition 2024

In a significant move to enhance transportation facilities for the 18th Exposition of St. Francis Xavier 2024, Goa’s Transport Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho inaugurated and flagged off five new Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) buses today. The ceremony was attended by KTCL Chairman and MLA Shri Ulhas Tuenkar, Vice Chairman Shri Kritesh Gaonkar, Managing Director Shri Pundalik Khorjuenkar, Works Manager Shri Mahendra Pednekar, and District Transport Officer Shri Roque Luis.

Speaking to the media, Shri Godinho emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring smooth and efficient travel for pilgrims and visitors attending this international event. “This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring seamless travel for pilgrims and visitors as they come together to honour the legacy of Goencho Saib,” he said.

The Transport Department revealed that a total of 30 new buses were specially ordered to cater to the transportation needs during the exposition. The first batch of five buses, received just yesterday, has already been deployed on key routes connecting Panaji, Margao, Vasco, and Old Goa. These routes are expected to witness heavy footfall during the exposition, which attracts devotees and tourists from across the globe.

Minister Godinho expressed optimism that the remaining buses would arrive soon and be integrated promptly into the fleet. He also extended his gratitude to the Managing Director and the KTCL team for their swift efforts in preparing for the event.

The new buses are expected to significantly enhance public transportation, ensuring convenience and safety for all attendees during the exposition.
