Goa Tops National Charts in Public Health and Human Development: CSE India Report 2025
Panaji, June 5, 2025 — In a landmark achievement, Goa has been declared the top-ranked state in the thematic areas of Public Health and Human Development and Public Infrastructure, according to the State of India’s Environment in Figures 2025 report published by CSE India (Centre for Science and Environment).
This national recognition underscores Goa’s exemplary governance and forward-thinking in public health and development. What truly sets the state apart is a first-of-its-kind milestone—Goa is the only state in India where 100% of registered deaths are medically certified with a known cause of death.
This achievement is a testament to the strength, transparency, and accountability of Goa’s health infrastructure, enabling better tracking of disease trends, forecasting health requirements, and enhancing response mechanisms to public health challenges.
In his statement, officials highlighted that this recognition is a result of visionary leadership under Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the guidance of Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda, and the relentless efforts of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. Their commitment to data-driven governance has laid the foundation for this achievement.
