Goa State Film Festival 2025 – A Celebration of Cinema!

Panaji, 14 August 2025:
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today inaugurated the 10th, 11th, and 12th Editions of the Goa State Film Festival 2025 at Panaji, marking a grand celebration of Goa’s cinematic journey. This year’s festival holds special significance as it coincides with 75 years of Goan cinema, a legacy that began with the iconic film Mogancho Annvdo in 1950 and continues to inspire generations.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sawant highlighted Goa’s proud contribution to Indian cinema, recalling the works of legendary artists like N Datta, Anthony Gonsalves, and the Mangeshkar family, along with renowned technicians such as K. Vaikunth and Waman Bhosle. He noted that today’s filmmakers carry this legacy forward by telling compelling stories in Konkani and Marathi, safeguarding Goa’s culture, traditions, and identity.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the Government of Goa’s commitment to nurturing the state’s film industry through schemes, incentives, and a single-window clearance system to make Goa a hub for creative talent and film production.

“I encourage our filmmakers to showcase the true essence of Goa — its heritage, communities, and culture — to audiences around the world,” Dr. Sawant said, extending his best wishes to all participants, organisers, and jury members for a successful festival.
