Goa Police Make Historic Drug Bust: Cocaine Worth Rs 43.2 Crore Seized, Three Arrested
Goa Date: 15/04/2024 In what is being described as the biggest drug seizure by Goa Police in 2024, the Crime Branch team arrested three individuals and confiscated 4.325 kilograms of suspected cocaine worth a staggering Rs 43.2 Crores. The drugs were ingeniously concealed in chocolate, wafer, and coffee packets, indicating a high level of planning and international smuggling links.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a Crime Branch team led by PI Laxi G. Amonkar carried out a narcotic raid near Chicolna Bus Stand, Chicolna, Mormugao, Goa. The raid led to the arrest of Nibu Vincent (45), a resident of Vasco Da Gama and native of Kolkata. He was caught red-handed with the drugs and a mobile phone, which have been seized under the panchanama.
Subsequent technical surveillance and interrogation of the accused led to the arrest of two associates, identified as Reshma Wadekar and Manguesh Wadekar, both residents of Sada, Mormugao. Reshma reportedly received the drug consignment from an unknown source and was attempting to distribute it in Goa.
The seizure points to an elaborate trafficking network, possibly extending beyond Indian borders. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of DYSP Crime Branch-1 Shri Rajesh Kumar and SP Crime Shri Rahul Gupta, IPS.
