Goa Is Bleeding: Amit Patkar Slams BJP Over Spiraling Crime in State#Goa #PresidentCongress #AmitPatkar #GoaIsBleeding

Panaji, June 11, 2025 — In a scathing social media post that has sparked intense debate, Goa Congress President Amit Patkar sounded the alarm over what he termed a “complete collapse of law, order, and leadership” in the state, asking pointedly: “Where is the BJP Government?”

Patkar’s outcry, posted with the hashtag #GoaIsBleeding, comes in the wake of a disturbing series of incidents that have rocked Goa in just the last 48 hours:

🔹 Calangute: Two minor girls were allegedly raped during a birthday party, raising serious questions about safety in one of Goa’s most frequented tourist destinations.

🔹 Calangute: A group of goons brutally assaulted hotel staff, an act caught on CCTV. Despite clear video evidence, Patkar alleges that no arrests have been made.

🔹 Ponda: A businessman was abducted in broad daylight, a brazen act that has left the local business community shaken.

“While crime surges,” Patkar wrote, “Dr. Pramod Sawant and his ministers are busy with PR stunts, bullying doctors, and chasing headlines — not justice.

He further declared, “This is not Viksit Bharat. This is a nightmare. As Goans, our hearts are heavy. I appeal to every Goan — wake up before it’s too late. Our silence will only deepen this darkness.”

The post tagged senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, Manikrao Thakare, Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, Yuri Alemao, Capt. Viriato Fernandes, Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira, and Altone D’Costa, urging them to take note of the deteriorating situation in Goa.

BJP Yet to Respond

As of now, there has been no official response from the BJP-led state government. However, the criticism comes at a time when the Sawant government is under increasing scrutiny over rising crime rates, especially in tourist hotspots and urban areas.

Political analysts say this sharp public criticism may add to the mounting pressure on the government, especially as opposition parties gear up for the next round of electoral battles in Goa.

The people of Goa, long proud of their state’s peace and hospitality, now watch with concern as safety and governance become central issues in the political discourse.
