Goa Government Enhances Financial Aid for ST Students Under Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana

Tribal Welfare Department Announces Increased Allowances for 2024-25

The Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Government of Goa, has implemented enhancements under the Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana, a scheme aimed at providing financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. The scheme helps cover food, travel, and disability-related expenses for eligible students pursuing post-matriculation courses in recognized institutions.

Under the revised scheme, the maintenance allowance has been increased:

Day scholars will now receive ₹900 per month (previously ₹750).

Hostellers will now receive ₹1,800 per month (previously ₹1,500).

The additional disability allowance has been raised from ₹750 to ₹900 per month.

These enhanced benefits will be applicable to all eligible students applying from the academic year 2024-25 onwards. The scholarship is awarded for 10 months per academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

Students must belong to the ST community in Goa.

The family income must not exceed ₹5,00,000 per annum.

The applicant must be a regular, full-time student in a recognized institution.

Application Process

Eligible students can apply through the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Portal: cmscholarship.goa.gov.in.

The last date to submit applications is January 15, 2025.
