Goa Government Announces Delay in PDS Foodgrain Distribution Due to Technical Issues
Panaji, February 5, 2025: The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Goa, has issued a press note informing the public about an anticipated delay in the distribution of food grains under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the state.
According to the notification, unforeseen technical issues in the computer system and network server at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and National Informatics Centre (NIC) led to a disruption in the supply chain for more than a week. As a result, PDS beneficiaries may experience difficulties in receiving their allotted food grains within the usual time frame for the month of February 2025.
The department has assured the public that the technical glitches have now been resolved, and transportation of food grains resumed on February 5, 2025. However, despite efforts to restore normal distribution, some Fair Price Shops (FPS) may still face delays of 5 to 6 days.
Beneficiaries are advised to visit their respective Fair Price Shops after February 10, 2025, to collect their monthly quota of food grains. The department has urged the public to cooperate during this period as they work towards normalizing the supply chain.
