Goa CM Launches Amritkal Agricultural Policy 2025 to Boost Farming Sector

Panaji, Goa – Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with Agriculture Minister Shri Ravi Naik, MLA Shri Premendra Vishnu Shet, and key officials from the Agriculture Department, launched the Goa State Amritkal Agricultural Policy 2025 today. The initiative aims to transform Goa’s agricultural landscape by focusing on farmer welfare, conflict resolution with wildlife, and promoting agro-tourism.

Speaking at the launch, CM Dr. Pramod Sawant announced the establishment of the Farmer Welfare Fund Board, which will specifically cater to the needs of farmers actively engaged in agriculture. “This board will ensure that farmers receive the necessary support and benefits. Additionally, we are collaborating with the Forest Department to develop strategies that will prevent wildlife intrusion into farmlands,” he stated.

Highlighting the policy’s vision, Dr. Sawant emphasized that the Goa State Amritkal Agriculture Policy 2025 seeks to encourage agro-tourism on large farmlands, providing new opportunities for individuals to engage in farming. “Our government is committed to preserving Goa’s rich agricultural heritage while introducing modern solutions to sustain and enhance farming,” he added.

Agriculture Minister Shri Ravi Naik hailed the policy as a historic reform, backed by the Chief Minister and other stakeholders. “This policy is another step towards transforming agriculture in Goa by ensuring stability and innovation,” he remarked.

MLA Shri Premendra Vishnu Shet, who also serves as the Chairman of the Goa State Horticulture Corporation, highlighted Goa’s unique approach to crop price regulation. “Goa is the only state where the government sets annual crop rates in advance, ensuring price stability even during market fluctuations. I urge farmers to join the Horticulture Corporation and sell their produce directly through this initiative,” he urged.

Other dignitaries present at the launch included Secretary (Agriculture) Shri Arun Kumar Mishra, IAS, Director of Agriculture Shri Sandeep Fol Dessai, and Chief Engineer (WRD) Shri Pramod Badami, among others.

With this progressive agricultural policy, the Government of Goa aims to strengthen the agricultural sector, safeguard farmers’ interests, and attract new stakeholders into farming and agro-tourism.
