by Goa Cabinet Reshuffle: Digambar Kamat and Ramesh Tawadkar Inducted as Ministers
Panaji, 21st August 2025: The long-awaited Cabinet reshuffle in Goa was finally carried out today, with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inducting two new ministers into his government.
Former Chief Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, along with Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar—who recently resigned as Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly—took oath as Cabinet Ministers in a solemn ceremony at Raj Bhavan, Panaji.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Goa Governor Ashok Gajapati Raju in the presence of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, and several senior political leaders.
The reshuffle came after Alex Sequeira, Minister for Environment, resigned citing personal reasons. A similar change had taken place a few months ago when the Sports Minister was dropped from the ministry. These developments had kept the reshuffle pending for some time.
Mr. Ramesh Tawadkar, who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, has been inducted to replace Govind Gaude, who also hails from the ST community, thus maintaining social representation within the Cabinet.
Political observers say this expansion is aimed at strengthening the government ahead of future challenges while balancing regional, social, and party dynamics in Goa’s political landscape.
