Goa Achieves Major Milestones in Social Welfare: CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji, February 4 – Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldesai and Education Minister Subhash Shirodkar, addressed the media today, announcing significant achievements under the Directorate of Social Welfare.

Goa Declared Free from Manual Scavenging

CM Sawant proudly declared that Goa is the first state in India to implement 100% mechanized scavenging systems, effectively eradicating manual scavenging. Additionally, the government has extended monetary assistance and benefits to the families of sanitation workers who lost their lives while engaged in manual scavenging.

Support for Palliative Care – ‘Dilasa’ Initiative

The government has extended financial assistance and certification to ‘Dilasa’ under the Palliative Care Center Scheme. This initiative supports registered organizations in running senior citizen homes for individuals suffering from chronic and debilitating diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Special Train for Mahakumbh

Under the Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Scheme, the government has arranged a special train from Goa to Prayagraj for Mahakumbh pilgrims, ensuring a comfortable and affordable journey for devotees.

Reaffirming the state’s dedication to public welfare, CM Sawant stated, “The Government of Goa is committed to social welfare through good governance and the adoption of new technologies.”
