Girish Chodankar Condemns Goa Police for Harassment of Sunil Kawthankar

Panjim: Girish Chodankar, former President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), has strongly criticized the Goa Police for allegedly harassing Sunil Kawthankar. In a sharp statement, Chodankar accused the police of attempting to silence those exposing the alleged nexus between the Home Ministry, the Goa Government, and land grabbers.

“I am appalled that the Goa Police are targeting Sunil Kawthankar for shedding light on these serious allegations. This blatant misuse of power is a clear attempt to intimidate those who dare to speak the truth,” said Chodankar.

He further lashed out at Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and the Goa Police, claiming they are diverting attention from critical issues such as the “Escapegate” land grab scandal and the “Cash for Job” scam. Chodankar highlighted the growing calls for the Chief Minister’s resignation amidst these controversies, noting the increasing pressure on the government.

Chodankar urged the Goa Police to focus on their duty of apprehending the escaped accused linked to the scandals instead of targeting opposition leaders. “The priority should be addressing these serious crimes, not intimidating those who are courageously exposing them,” he added.

The statement has stirred political debate in Goa, with opposition leaders rallying behind Kawthankar and questioning the government’s accountability in handling the ongoing scandals.
