Energy Need To Be Conserved & Used Judiciously: Dhavalikar
Panaji, April 11, 2025: Minister for Power, Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavlikar, emphasized the importance of energy conservation and judicious use while speaking at a function organized for the distribution of induction cooktops to 650 Anganwadis across six talukas in Goa. The event, held at the Seminar Hall, Secretariat, Porvorim, was organized by the Electricity Department in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
The Government of Goa, through the Electricity Department and the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA), has been actively promoting clean and efficient energy solutions. Various schemes such as incentives for rooftop solar systems and subsidies for biogas plants have been introduced to encourage the adoption of sustainable energy sources. The State is also pushing for a transition to electric cooking under initiatives like the Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan and the Electric Mobility Promotion Policy.
Speaking at the event, Minister Dhavlikar stated, “Energy sources are crucial, and it is our responsibility to conserve them and use them wisely. Through the promotion of clean cooking programs, we are ensuring a sustainable future for Goa.”
The induction cooktops were distributed under the Clean Cooking Programme, benefiting Anganwadis from the talukas of Sattari, Bicholim, Bardez, Ponda, Salcete, and Quepem. The remaining talukas will be covered under the scheme in the next phase.
The function was attended by Nodal Officer of the State Designated Agency and Superintendent Engineer of the Electricity Department, Shri Mayur Hede, along with CDPOs, Mukhyasevikas, and other dignitaries.
Earlier, Superintendent Engineer (Commercial), Shri Shailesh Burye, welcomed the guests, while Assistant Engineer, Smt. Megha Nadkami, compered the function. Executive Engineer, Shri Rajiv Naik, proposed the vote of thanks.
This initiative highlights Goa’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability, ensuring a greener and cleaner future for its citizens.
