ECI Begins Process to Delist 4 Defunct Political Parties from Goa Panaji, Goa | 2nd July 2025

In a major move aimed at cleaning up the political landscape, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated proceedings to delist four Registered Unrecognized Political Parties (RUPPs) from Goa for failing to meet the basic operational criteria over the past six years.

According to the official notice No. CO/PN/SCN RUPPs/2025/614 issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Goa, the following four political parties have been flagged in the first phase of this initiative:

1. Goa Nationalist Party
   📍 Registered Address: House No. 442, Chinchmala, Wada Parye, Sattari-Goa 403505
2. Goa Praja Party
   📍 Registered Address: Classic Apartments, House No. 69, Ella, Old Goa, Tiswadi, North Goa 403402
3. Gomantak Rashtriya Otteric Astro
   📍 Registered Address: L. No. 780/A, Mugally, Sao Jose de Areal, Salcete, Goa
4. United Goans Party
   📍 Registered Address: Shop No. 7, H. No. 18/5/6, Gramilo Apartment, Dondrem, Taleigao, Tiswadi, Goa

These parties have not contested a single Lok Sabha, State Assembly, or bye-election since 2019 and could not be physically traced at their registered addresses, violating key compliance norms set by the ECI for RUPPs.

This move is part of a nationwide clean-up exercise, where 345 such RUPPs have already been identified. The Commission has directed Chief Electoral Officers in every State and Union Territory to serve show-cause notices to these parties, providing them with an opportunity to respond or appear for a hearing. The final decision on de-listing will rest with the Election Commission of India.
