Eat Right Walkathon 2025 Promotes Healthy Living in South Goa

Margao, Goa – In a vibrant celebration of health and wellness, the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), in collaboration with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Ravindra Bhavan Margao, successfully organized the Eat Right Walkathon 2025 today. The 5-kilometer walkathon, aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and physical fitness, witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 750 individuals, making it a resounding success.

The event was flagged off by a host of distinguished personalities, including former Chief Minister and Margao MLA Mr. Digamber Kamat, FDA Director Mrs. Shweta Dessai, Ravindra Bhavan Vice Chairman Dr. Manohar Borkar, GPMA President Dr. Pravin Khullar, Director of Women and Child Welfare Mr. Manuel Barreto, and Nestle India’s Head of Corporate Affairs (West) Mr. Sanjay Bhandari. Representatives from Nestle India, the National Association of Street Food Vendors, and street food vendors from South Goa also graced the occasion.

The walkathon commenced at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and culminated at Arlem Circle, with participants of all ages walking together to spread awareness about the importance of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle. The event highlighted the significance of making informed food choices and adopting sustainable eating practices.

Speaking at the event, FDA Director Mrs. Shweta Dessai said, “The Eat Right Walkathon is not just a walk; it is a movement towards a healthier Goa. By promoting healthy eating and physical activity, we aim to create a culture of wellness that benefits everyone.”

Former Chief Minister Mr. Digamber Kamat praised the initiative, stating, “Such events play a crucial role in educating the public about the importance of food safety and healthy living. I congratulate the organizers and participants for making this event a grand success.”

The event also saw active support from the Traffic Police Cell South Goa, Police Department South, Sports Authority of Goa, and Directorate of Health Services, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the walkathon.

The Eat Right Walkathon 2025 not only encouraged physical fitness but also fostered a sense of community among participants. With its focus on promoting healthier lifestyles, the event has set a benchmark for future initiatives aimed at improving public health and well-being.
