DM South Goa Calls for Claims on Abandoned Vehicles
Margao, April 07, 2025: The District Magistrate of South Goa has issued a public notice inviting individuals with claims over abandoned vehicles to submit their applications along with valid documentary evidence. Claims must be filed within six months at the offices of the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate I (Salcete) in Margao or the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Mormugoa).
Failure to submit claims within the stipulated period will result in the vehicles being forfeited to the State Government. The abandoned vehicles will then be disposed of through a public auction or any other government-approved method, with no further claims entertained thereafter.
Recently, the South Goa Collector had issued an order directing authorities to take strict action against abandoned vehicles left on public roads and open spaces. The order was aimed at clearing such vehicles, which contribute to congestion, pose safety risks, and lead to environmental concerns. Enforcement agencies were instructed to identify and remove such vehicles, following which this notice was issued for rightful owners to come forward.
The list of identified vehicles for each taluka is available at the respective Deputy Collector’s offices in Margao and Mormugoa. Residents with any stake in these vehicles are urged to act promptly.
