In a significant move to tackle air pollution in the national capital, the Delhi Government has announced that vehicles older than 15 years will no longer be allowed to refuel at petrol pumps after March 31st. The decision was declared by Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa following a high-level meeting with officials to address rising pollution levels.
Mr. Sirsa stated that the government will install special gadgets at petrol pumps to detect vehicles older than 15 years and prevent them from refueling. Additionally, a dedicated team will be formed to identify and restrict the entry and exit of such vehicles in the city, further strengthening enforcement measures.
In another major anti-pollution initiative, the minister announced that the Delhi government will make it mandatory for Delhi Airport, multi-story buildings, and large offices to install anti-smog guns. These devices will help control pollution in and around major infrastructure hubs.
With air pollution in Delhi consistently reaching hazardous levels, these measures aim to reduce vehicular emissions, a major contributor to poor air quality. The government’s decisive action is expected to bring significant improvements in the city’s air quality and ensure a healthier environment for its residents.
