CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Virtually Inaugurates ‘NAKSHA’ Pilot Project in Goa

Panaji, February 18: Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant virtually joined the launch of the ‘NAKSHA’ pilot project under the Directorate of Land Records, marking a significant step towards modernizing land survey and record-keeping in urban areas. The initiative was officially inaugurated by Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The ‘NAKSHA’ project, part of the National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey initiative, aims to bring transparency, efficiency, and accuracy in urban land records management. Three urban bodies in Goa—Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), Margao Municipal Council, and Cuncolim Municipal Council—have been selected for the pilot phase.

Speaking at the launch, CM Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasized the importance of leveraging advanced geospatial technology to streamline land records, resolve property disputes, and enhance revenue generation. “This initiative will ensure the efficient maintenance of official land records, benefiting both citizens and government authorities,” he said.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the project’s national significance, stating that the ‘NAKSHA’ initiative will play a crucial role in modernizing India’s urban land management systems.

The pilot project is expected to bring greater accuracy in land demarcation, digitized records, and improved dispute resolution mechanisms, reducing legal conflicts and ensuring smoother real estate transactions. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of Digital India and Ease of Doing Business by creating a transparent and accessible land records system.

With Goa leading the way in implementing this advanced technology, the success of the pilot project could pave the way for its expansion across the state and the country.
