Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant Reviews Progress of ₹281 Crore Sal Barrage Project and ₹20 Crore Amtane Irrigation Tank. Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar, MLA Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, and Chief Engineer Shri Badami, inspected the ongoing progress of the Sal Barrage project and the Amtane Minor Irrigation Tank & Raw Water Pumping Station project.
Sal Barrage Project: A Boon for Water Supply
The Sal Barrage project, with an estimated cost of ₹281 crore, is a crucial initiative aimed at lifting 250 MLD (million liters per day) of water. This water is essential for treatment plants located in Assonora, Pilerne, Guirim, Chandel, and Mopa, benefiting Bardez, Pernem, and Bicholim talukas. Officials confirmed that the project is progressing satisfactorily while adhering to high-quality standards. Once completed, it will play a pivotal role in ensuring uninterrupted water supply for drinking and irrigation purposes.
Amtane Irrigation Tank: Meeting Local Water Needs
The Amtane Minor Irrigation Tank & Raw Water Pumping Station project, valued at ₹20 crore, is set to boost water supply to the Latambarsem and Assonora regions. The project is expected to address the growing demand for water in the region and enhance overall infrastructure.
Dr. Sawant reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the timely delivery of essential infrastructure projects to meet Goa’s water supply demands. “These projects will efficiently cater to both current and future requirements, guaranteeing uninterrupted drinking and irrigation water for the people of North Goa,” he stated.
