BJP’s Own Leaders Expose Rampant Corruption in Goa Government – Girish Chodankar
Panaji, March 5, 2025: Former BJP Minister Pandurang Madkaikar’s shocking revelation that “nothing in the government is moving” and that “all ministers are busy making money” has once again exposed the deep-rooted corruption in the BJP-led Goa government. Madkaikar further admitted to paying ₹15-20 lakh to a minister, calling it not just corruption but outright loot.
Reacting to this, senior Congress leader Girish Chodankar pointed out that this is the fourth time a major BJP leader has publicly spoken about corruption within their own party. Previously, former Deputy Chief Minister Babu Kavlekar had stated that he doesn’t take money “like other ministers.” Similarly, BJP MLAs Ganesh Gaonkar and Babush Monserrate had openly admitted that money is being taken for government jobs.
Despite these repeated allegations from within the BJP itself, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has remained silent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who once claimed “Na Khaunga, Na Khane Dunga,” has not reacted. Even BJP’s state in-charge B.L. Santhosh has chosen to ignore these serious claims.
The opposition has consistently exposed various scams of this government, yet no action has been taken. If Goa were under opposition rule, such statements would have immediately led to large-scale Enforcement Directorate raids on ministers and party offices. The silence of the BJP leadership raises a crucial question: Does the Chief Minister accept Madkaikar’s statement as the truth, or is he going to harass him for speaking out?
It is evident that ministers in this government are in a race to collect maximum money through corruption. Are they given a quota to raise party funds for the central leadership? Or do they have to outbid each other annually to retain their ministries? Either way, this corruption is directly looting the people of Goa and damaging the state’s economy.
A serious and independent investigation into this corruption is the need of the hour. Even BJP MLAs and party members are frustrated, as they, too, have to pay bribes to get work done. Goa cannot afford this loot any longer.
