BJP Slams Karnataka Government Over Minority Budget Allocation, Calls It ‘Appeasement Politics’
New Delhi, March 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused the Karnataka government of indulging in appeasement politics following the Congress regime’s budgetary allocation for minorities. Addressing the media in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Anil Antony strongly criticized the state government over the provision of a 4 percent reservation for a particular minority community in public works contracts.
Mr. Antony alleged that this move is a clear deviation from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s principles and the Indian Constitution. He questioned Congress, asking whether the term “minorities” in Karnataka refers to only one community. The BJP leader demanded an immediate rollback of the decision, stating that such policies create divisions in society.
Another BJP leader, Pradeep Bhandari, went a step further, drawing a controversial comparison between the Congress-led Karnataka government and the administration of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Pakistan. He accused the ruling party of governing in a manner that undermines constitutional values and promotes communal favoritism.
The Karnataka government, led by the Congress, has defended its minority welfare initiatives, arguing that they are aimed at ensuring social justice and inclusive development. However, the BJP has vowed to continue its opposition, claiming that such policies promote discrimination and are against the spirit of equality.
As the debate over reservation and minority rights intensifies, this issue is expected to remain a significant flashpoint in Karnataka’s political landscape.
