Panaji, Goa – In a sharp rebuttal to claims made by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa has issued a press note condemning the Congress party’s stance on the recent Adani Group controversy. The press note, issued by State Spokesperson Giriraj Pai Vernekar, accuses Congress of spreading “canards of lies” and engaging in baseless propaganda.
Patkar, during a press conference, linked the allegations against the Adani Group in the United States to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Responding to this, the BJP stated, “Rahul Gandhi’s obsession with PM Modi has compelled Congress leaders like Patkar to propagate baseless allegations. Such desperate tactics reflect the internal power struggles within the Congress party.”
BJP’s Stand on Adani Allegations
While distancing itself from the Adani Group, the BJP emphasized that the conglomerate must clarify and defend itself against the allegations. The party, however, accused Congress of hypocrisy, highlighting significant investments made by the Adani Group in Congress-ruled states such as Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
“Adani invested Rs 25,000 crore in Chhattisgarh and Rs 65,000 crore in Rajasthan under Congress leadership. Similar investments were made in DMK-ruled Tamil Nadu and Telangana. If Adani is ‘corrupt,’ as Congress alleges, why are its governments welcoming investments from his company?” the BJP spokesperson questioned.
Accusations of Propaganda
The BJP criticized Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Congress for allegedly attempting to tarnish PM Modi’s image since 2002. The press note highlighted PM Modi’s global admiration and his recent receipt of a prestigious international civilian award as proof of his credibility and leadership.
The BJP concluded by accusing Congress of engaging in divisive politics and reiterated its confidence in the wisdom of the Indian electorate.
