AAP Goa Seeks Urgent Meeting with DGP Over Rising Gun Culture in State
Panaji (22 August 2025): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa has raised alarm over the growing gun culture and deteriorating law and order situation in the state. In a formal letter addressed to the Director General of Police (DGP), Goa Police Headquarters, Panaji, AAP Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar has sought an urgent appointment to discuss the issue.
The letter, dated 22nd August 2025, highlights a string of violent incidents that have shaken public confidence in safety measures. Referring to the recent shootout at Mungul and an open gun firing incident at Marcaim, Palekar emphasized that such back-to-back crimes have left citizens in fear.
Further pointing to a recent attack on a police officer, AAP expressed concern that even those in uniform are now under threat, signaling a dangerous breakdown in law and order.
“These incidents, along with the rising cases of thefts, assaults, and gang wars, have left citizens anxious about their safety and shaken their confidence in the system. Urgent and visible steps must be taken to restore peace and law and order across the state,” the letter states.
AAP Goa has requested that the DGP grant them a meeting at the earliest, so that a delegation of party leaders can present their observations and suggestions to curb the menace.
The party has also stressed that immediate, strict, and visible actions are essential to reassure Goans that law enforcement is firmly in control.
